Overview

Owen Weaver is a municipal attorney, civil litigator, and tax appeal attorney. Owen is currently Town Counsel to the Town of Orange, Special Counsel to the Town of Bethel and Special Tax Counsel to the Borough of Naugatuck. Owen regularly represents individuals, businesses and public entities before administrative tribunals, trial courts and appellate courts. Owen also represents both taxpayers and municipalities in tax appeals and has handled hundreds of tax appeals in both Connecticut and New Jersey.

Owen began his career clerking for the Honorable Vito L. Bianco of the Tax Court of New Jersey and worked for a regional insurance defense firm and a small boutique firm before joining Zabel Schellenberg, PLLC. Since 2013, Owen has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. In 2024, Owen became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, which is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society.

Owen is active in community and civic service. Owen currently is a member on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys; Amity Chamber of Commerce; and the Orange Economic Development Corp. Owen also serves as a coach and is the President of the Board of Directors for Amity Youth Lacrosse, Inc. Owen is also the attorney for the non-profits Amity High School Athletic Booster Club and Mary L. Tracy Parent-Teacher Organization, Inc. Prior to joining Zabel Schellenberg, PLLC and moving back to his native Orange, Connecticut, Owen served as the Vice Chairman for Montville Township (NJ) Historic Preservation Review Commission and as an Alternate Voting Member on Montville’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.
