Overview
Courtney George represents businesses, municipalities, non-profit organizations, and individuals in workplace matters, providing useful guidance, practical solutions, and effective advocacy.
Courtney helps new and established employers comply with changing workplace laws, develop sound workplace policies and procedures, and manage legal risks that can disrupt business and operations. Courtney recognizes that compliance with workplace laws can be daunting and that requirements may vary depending on an employer’s industry. She understands the importance of getting to know a client’s business, workplace, and circumstances to provide effective, personalized legal assistance.
Courtney works with clients on assorted workplace matters: providing Human Resources guidance and support, developing personnel policies, procedures and best practices, conducting workplace trainings and internal investigations, enforcing trade secret protections and restrictive covenants, and negotiating employment, severance and other agreements. When disputes or claims arise, Courtney zealously represents clients in agency investigations and in litigation of employment and labor matters before administrative agencies, in state and federal court, and in arbitration.
Courtney has experience in areas including worker classification, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, employee discipline and discharge, employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and public sector labor relations. Municipal labor relations are a particular focus for Courtney, and she regularly represents municipal clients in contract administration, collective bargaining, grievance arbitrations and prohibited practice proceedings.
